From small gestures, to larger rhythms and sequences of current daily life, Helene Koch’s work questions how we construct, perceive and experience places, well known objects and situations. Whether she uses the city as her studio, or her own studio’s relation to the outside world and its phenomena, Koch often works with the surrounding space as a premise for her interventions.

Working across media, which encompass photography, site specific installations, drawings and sculptural objects, she explores what often goes by unnoticed. Through places and through time. Whether it is the detail of a space or the fraction of a moment which describes the margins of our lives.

Helene Koch has participated in a number of group exhibitions internationally, with a recent solo and duo exhibition in South Korea, 2023.  Her work has been exhibited in Seoul, Los Angeles, Miami, London, Vilnius, New York and Copenhagen.

She has been an external examiner and guest critic at the Royal Danish Academy, Copenhagen, DK, Lund University, School of Architecture, SE, Korea University, Architecture Department, KR and invited by Princeton University Imagination Center, to lead a bootcamp/workshop for students and Faculty. Princeton University SoA, US.

Helene Koch was born 1979, in Copenhagen, Denmark. She holds a Master in Architecture from the Royal Danish Academy. After years abroad, she has recently moved back to Denmark and currently lives and works in Copenhagen.
